What Not to Do After Oral Surgery:

• Do not eat until the effects of the anesthesia have fully worn off, as you might choke or accidentally bite your tongue or lip.
• Avoid rinsing, spitting, or sucking on the surgical site for a few days after the surgery. These actions may provoke bleeding.
• Do not bend over, lift heavy objects, strain yourself, exercise, or blow your nose (in case of surgery on the upper jaw) for about one week after the procedure.
• Never apply warm or lukewarm compresses to the area, as they can increase inflammation and cause significant swelling.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption for at least 3 days, as they can lead to infection of the surgical wound.

Helpful Tips for the Days Following Oral Surgery:

• Minor bleeding may occur after surgery. This can mix with saliva and seem more intense than it really is. In such cases, bite gently on a gauze pad for 10–15 minutes.
• Cool the surgical area every 20 minutes for 10 minutes using an ice pack, gel wrap, or frozen product wrapped in a towel. This reduces swelling and speeds up healing.

Pay Extra Attention to Oral Hygiene:

• On the day of the surgery, brush your teeth thoroughly but avoid the surgical site to prevent disturbing the wound.
• From the next day on, gently clean the surgical area with sweeping motions using a toothbrush to keep bacteria away.
