3. Profile Analysis and Digital Planning

This is the most crucial phase of orthodontic treatment. At this stage, we plan the changes to be made to the face, what the smile will look like, the overall impression, and the aesthetic evaluation. We examine the masticatory and facial muscles, the occlusion, chewing function, tooth position, and the relationship between the jaws. We measure the contact between the teeth and lips. Aesthetic analysis is performed. For each patient, we prepare a fully personalized treatment plan.

4. Application of the Orthodontic Appliance

Following this, at a pre-arranged appointment, we place the selected appliance. Thanks to precise and meticulous planning, the device is comfortable to wear and ensures an impeccable outcome from aesthetic, anatomical, and clinical perspectives. After bonding, we demonstrate how to use and clean the appliance and provide related instructional videos.

5. Regular Check-Ups and Ongoing Support

Week by week, month by month, we track the progress of changes. The orthodontic appliance is activated every 4-6 weeks to ensure the application of the correct directional forces. Follow-up appointments are always scheduled in advance and, where possible, aligned with your availability. 6. Retention and Complimentary Biannual Check-Ups

Is it worth starting orthodontic treatment after the age of 30?

The answer is clearly yes. Whether you are 8, 18, or 58 years old, the physiological process that allows teeth to move within the bone remains the same. Therefore, the process of orthodontic tooth movement is identical in children and adults – the only difference is the body’s speed of response. Thanks to modern orthodontic systems and the protocols applied in our clinic, even patients in their 50s, 60s, or 70s can successfully undergo orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth.

In older age, much more comprehensive diagnostics are required before treatment than in the 11-18 age group. Adults often have fillings, missing teeth, or teeth requiring root canal treatment, and periodontal disease – all of which usually need to be addressed before starting orthodontics.

The goal of adult orthodontics is not only to improve dental aesthetics but also to eliminate factors leading to tooth loss and to correct occlusal abnormalities. Misaligned teeth and improper bites affect our chewing efficiency, our smile, and even our digestive system function.

Can I have braces if I have periodontal disease?

Orthodontic treatment is possible even in the presence of periodontal disease. In fact, our periodontist may often recommend orthodontic treatment to ensure the long-term retention of teeth. However, if there is active inflammation, periodontal therapy must precede orthodontic intervention.

Can crowding develop in adulthood?

Throughout life, the jaws undergo continuous, slow changes, and teeth naturally tend to migrate forward over time. This gradual movement can make previously minor crowding more noticeable and severe. Wisdom teeth often contribute to the development of crowding as well. In most cases, removable orthodontic appliances are no longer suitable for adults. However, there are still two safe and effective methods to choose from.
