Thanks to the latest digital technology and the focused nature of the X-rays on a relatively small area, the radiation emitted during a dental CBCT scan—even for a full visceral cranial examination—is only one-tenth of that emitted by conventional CT scans in radiology. Therefore, this technology does not pose harmful risks. Additionally, with careful protective measures, including the use of a lead apron, radiation exposure is minimized.

In fact, the radiation from a single scan is equivalent to what you would be exposed to during a 5-minute walk near Margit Bridge due to natural background radiation from the air.

After the dental CT examination, your scan will be sent to your email. This allows you to easily download it at home or forward it directly to your dentist’s email. Alternatively, upon request, we can provide the scan on a preferred data medium/ pendrive.

Your completed dental CT scan is securely stored in our closed database. Should you need it again, we will provide it free of charge. Results are only released personally to you or to an authorized family member with a written authorization.

Our dental CT service is available even if your treatment is not being carried out in our clinic. Dentists from other practices can refer their patients to our X-ray lab. If you are not a patient of our clinic, please ask your dentist about the preferred format and type of data storage device for the scan.

Digital panoramic X-rays play a crucial role in diagnostics as they provide a comprehensive overview of the entire dentition. However, thanks to modern technology, there is a far more accurate diagnostic method available: 3D CBCT imaging.

A 3D CBCT scan provides submillimeter precision, capturing every intricate detail of the patient’s teeth and oral cavity, including the structure of the jawbone.

Often, the source of dental pain remains unknown. This could be due to a retained tooth root fragment, which may not be visible on a two-dimensional X-ray because it only projects an image on a single plane, failing to fully represent reality. On a 3D CBCT scan, however, no hidden object—no matter how small—can escape detection.

With panoramic X-rays, the two-dimensional nature of the process results in all layers overlapping, which can obscure numerous details, potentially including severe dental issues. Additionally, panoramic images are subject to a certain degree of distortion, complicating the precise planning of treatments. In contrast, 3D CBCT imaging offers perfectly accurate, distortion-free visualizations of the patient’s oral cavity.
